Schooling in Pajamas

Jacksonville State University

Over the weekend, we attended a marching band competition for my oldest. We drove to Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama which is about a 3-4 hour drive for us. This is the third year for my son being a member of the Marching Pride but the first time for the competition held here.

Part of our caravan and the buses at the competition. The first picture we were the last car in the caravan but it didn’t stay that way. đŸ™‚   We had five buses and 6 cars that went.

Here are some of the early bands before us. We watched 4A and 5A bands. We are in the 5A class. We have 200 total with color guard and band members.

There were some really good shows. We had a trip to outer space, a metamorphosis, popular songs, Broadway, and  others.

Here is our band performing their show titled “Dangerous 2013” which is a tribute to Michael Jackson.

While there, we were treated to an amazing performance by the college band. They performed their halftime show as well as some traditions they do at every game.

I’ll try to update with pictures of the Jacksonville area as soon as I find them. I didn’t take those pictures this trip since I was driving but I have some from a previous trip up there.

My middle son also plays. He started out in the marching band this year but when we withdrew him for GCA he had to stop. As he says, it wasn’t his thing and would have wanted to stop anyway. He is a great saxophone player.
